At Coyote Kids Baseball Club, our One-on-One and Buddy Sessions are designed to give young players focused instruction, high-quality reps, and a fun environment where learning happens naturally. These sessions are fast-moving, engaging, and built around simple progressions that help kids throw and hit with confidence.

Whether your child is training solo or with a buddy, every session follows a proven structure that keeps them active, challenged, and smiling from start to finish.

Step 1: Throwing Warm-Up & Arm Activation

We always begin with a proper throwing warm-up to prepare the arms and shoulders for movement and effort.

  • Dynamic arm and shoulder warm-ups

  • Emphasis on balance, posture, and smooth movement

  • Teaching kids how to warm up correctly and safely

This phase helps prevent injury while setting the tone for quality reps throughout the session.

Step 2: Throwing Mechanics & Movement Drills

Once warm, we move into throwing actions that teach how to generate power efficiently using the whole body — not just the arm.

  • Squid Throw (Towel Drill): A ball placed inside a towel to reinforce arm path, extension, and follow-through. https://www.squidsports.com/pages/welcome

  • Knee Throws Against the Wall: Performed on a racquetball court to isolate torso rotation, reach-back, and core engagement.

  • Self-Fielding Reps: Players react to the ball as it rebounds off the wall, field it cleanly, and throw again — building athleticism and quick decision-making.

  • Step-Through Throws: Crossing the feet and stepping through the throw to create momentum, rhythm, and arm speed.

Step 3: Swing Speed & Bat Control

After throwing, we transition into hitting with a focus on swinging fast and with intent.

  • Broomstick SwingsShort bursts of fast swings to feel speed, rhythm, and freedom without overthinking mechanics.

This helps kids loosen up, gain confidence, and prepare for quality contact.

Step 4: Hitting Progressions & Fun Finish

We then move into tee work and finish strong with a competitive element.

  • Tee hitting progressions focused on balance, contact, and extension

  • Adjustments made based on each player’s age and experience

  • Tee Popper Challenge to end the session with energy and excitement

Kids leave feeling accomplished — not overwhelmed.

Why This Format Works

This session structure is intentionally simple and repeatable. By keeping kids moving and engaged, we help them:

  • Think less and react more

  • Build strong fundamentals through repetition

  • Develop confidence in both throwing and hitting

  • Have fun while learning the game the right way

Every drill has a purpose, and every session is tailored to the individual player or buddy pair.
